Britannia 1 oz Silver Coin - Random Year
The official series from the Royal Mint - the Great Britain 1 oz Silver Britannia Coin. This is a gorgeous .999 fine silver coin, adding great value to any silver portfolio!
The Britannia Silver Coin program began in 1997 and continues to be one of the most popular silver series from the British Royal Mint, in addition to the Lunar Series and the Queen’s Beasts Series.
The impressive Britannia figure has historic origins in Roman mythology but is now widely known as the personification of the United Kingdom. As such, the Royal Mint has deemed it fitting to use this powerful image as the design for the Britannia coins.
The obverse of the coin displays the famous Jody Clark effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She wears her regal crown and elegant earrings and is surrounded by the coin’s denomination and an engraving of her name.
The reverse, meanwhile, features the majestic Britannia figure. She wears a toga and a shield, standing proudly while she wields a trident in her outstretched arm. This represents strength and integrity. The year of mintage, weight, purity, and an engraving of Britannia’s name join her along the rim of the coin.
