Kijang Emas 1oz 9999 Gold Coin (with Capsule)
The Kijang Emas is minted by the Royal Mint of Malaysia and distributed by Malayan Banking Berhad. On 17 July 2001, the gold bullion was launched by Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamad, the former Prime Minister of Malaysia. The date marked the beginning of history for Malaysia as one of the country in the world to issue its own gold bullion coin. However the Kijang Emas was minted for only 3 years until 2003 and have stopped, and this makes it very rare and sought after for bullion gold coin collectors.
The design on the obverse of the Kijang Emas depicts a barking deer ("kijang") in its natural habitat in the Malaysian jungle. Also appearing on the obverse are the words BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA, for the central bank of Malaysia as the issuer of the coins; KIJANG EMAS; the weight; gold purity; and the year of minting.
The reverse side features the hibiscus, the national flower of Malaysia together with the denomination face value, as well as the words BANK NEGARA MALAYSIA in Jawi (Arabic) script.
