2025 Britannia 1/4 oz Silver Coin
British Silver Britannia Coins were first introduced by The Royal Mint in 1997 as a continuation of the popular Britannia gold bullion series. Initially minted in sterling silver with a .925 purity, the silver Britannias transitioned to .999 fine silver beginning in 2013.
During the 17th and 18th centuries, Britannia became a powerful symbol of British patriotism and imperial strength. Her presence grew in art, literature, and official imagery, with defining attributes including a trident representing naval dominance, a shield bearing the Union Jack, and at times, a British lion.
All 2025 1/4 oz British Silver Britannia Coins offered here are in Brilliant Uncirculated condition. They are available individually in plastic flips or in quantities of 19 housed in protective tubes. The coins showcase a radiant sunburst pattern in the reverse background, while the obverse features a detailed guilloché design.
The obverse of the 2025 British Silver Britannia features the first official portrait of King Charles III on British coinage. Depicted in left-profile without a crown, the design was created by Martin Jennings in 2022 and made its debut in 2023.
On the reverse, the classic image of Britannia appears in a design originally created by Philip Nathan in 1987. Britannia is shown facing forward, holding a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, which rests upon a Union Jack shield. She is depicted wearing a Corinthian helmet, reinforcing her enduring role as a symbol of strength and peace.
