2026 Canada Maple Leaf 1 oz Silver Coin
First released in 1988, the Canadian Silver Maple Leaf has become one of the most sought-after silver bullion coins worldwide. Arriving nearly ten years after the introduction of the Gold Maple Leaf in 1979, it was the first silver bullion coin issued by a major industrialized nation to feature .9999 fine silver.
The obverse of the 2026 1 oz Silver Maple Leaf showcases a portrait of King Charles III. Created for the Royal Canadian Mint in 2024, this left-facing, uncrowned effigy by artist Steven Rosati marks the monarch’s appearance on the series.
The reverse continues the iconic depiction of the sugar maple leaf, a design introduced in 1979 by Walter Ott for the original Gold Maple Leaf. This classic artwork has been carried forward across the silver, platinum, and palladium Maple Leaf coins.
The sugar maple tree traces its origins back to the Tertiary period—around 65 million years ago—as part of a maple genus that first developed in Asia. Over thousands of years marked by shifting glacial cycles, the species adapted to the temperate conditions of what is now the northeastern United States and southeastern Canada.
