American Buffalo 1 oz 9999 Gold Coin
The American Gold Buffalo, an official gold bullion coin of the United States of America, was first released into circulation by the U.S. Mint in 2006 after the successful passage of the Presidential $1 Coin Act in 2005. It was the first time that the U.S. Mint, established under Congress’ Coinage Act of 1972, had ever struck a coin in 24-karat gold.
The US Mint introduced the American Gold Buffalo on June 22, 2006. Guaranteed by the United States Government, this beautiful coin is the first gold bullion coin with 99.99% pure gold content. The Buffalo coins are produced at the United States Mint West Point facility but doesn't carry a mintmark. This fantastic coin series has become a huge success among collectors and investors all over the world, especially due to the fast increase of the intrinsic value, which almost doubles its price today. Initially, this gorgeous coin was released to compete with foreign gold coins, such as the worldwide renowned South African Krugerrands. However, the coin became widely popular thanks to its historical design, first seen on 1913 Buffalo Nickels and created by James Earl Fraser - the student of Augustus Saint-Gaudens (the designer of the beloved Gold Eagles). Showcased on the obverse of the coin is the incredibly detailed profile portrait of a Native American tribe chief while the reverse displays the Black Diamond Bison from the New York City Central Park Zoo.

Every detail of the Native American’s face, along with his braided hair with feathers is exceptionally engraved, surrounded by the inscriptions “Liberty,” “Year” and “F” (Fraser’s initial).
- Reverse: The stunning image of the iconic American Buffalo, inspired by the famous bison which lived in the Central Park Zoo in 1910 - the Black Diamond Bison. The majestic bison is depicted as standing on the ground and facing left, being framed by the engravings “United States of America,” “E Pluribus Unum,” “In God We Trust” and the coin’s purity, weight and face value.
