Struck at the People's Bank of China, these coins are legal tender in China boasting a face value of 500 yuan, but with an intrinsic value well above that. Since Gold Panda's introduction in 1982 they have offered an annually changing reverse panda design. The 2011 coin features a mother panda with her cub in a bamboo field. The baby panda seems to be giving her a kiss as she watches over her young. The obverse features the Temple of the Heavens located in Beijing, where Chinese Emperors would come to worship and pray for abundance. Chinese panda gold coins are a unique treasure.
